The Owosso & Caledonia Charter Townships Utility Authority has been established and given the responsibility for financing, constructing, and maintaining the wastewater collection system for Owosso and Caledonia Charter Townships. Included as part of the system are approximately 38 miles of sewers; one built-in-place pumping station, six prefabricated lift stations, and two metering stations.
The Township Sewer Authority is faced with a serious problem of infiltration. We are forced to pay infiltration costs to the Mid-County treatment plant, on clean water due to sump lines, illegal hookups and leaky sewer taps.
These illegal hookups are also creating problems for you and your neighbors during wet weather events because the sewer system can no longer handle the excess water. Basements and yards are being flooded and with all this excess water the plant overflows and must release untreated water directly to the Shiawassee River.
We need everyone’s help, to stop the overflows and bring down the cost of treatment fees.
